Finely grained white marble (-2.23/+4.03: Parian).

Head, broken off across at top of neck; Missing: nose; Chipped or broken: forehead, eyebrows, eyes, mouth, chin, left ear, crown of head.

This life-size portrait head of a male has a pronounced wedge-shaped form. Compact in its contours, the head is strongly modelled, with a wide forehead, prominent cheekbones, and a squared chin. The straight, thin-lipped mouth has lightly drilled corners. The large, expressive eyes are further emphasized by high-arched brows and the sharp edges of the chisel-cut upper lids.
